MyVillage
Community Guidelines
MyVillage is a place for neighbors to connect, share, and support one another. These guidelines keep it welcoming for everyone. By taking part, you agree to follow them. They apply everywhere on MyVillage: posts, comments, reviews, groups, events, jobs, and classifieds.
What we hope to see
Be kind. Be honest. Share things that help your neighbors. Celebrate the community, ask for help when you need it, and treat people the way you would at your own front door. Assume good faith, and disagree with respect.
What is not allowed
These are the things we remove. The list mirrors the reasons you can pick when you report content.
Spam and scams
No repetitive junk, misleading offers, phishing, or attempts to trick people out of money or personal details.
Harassment and bullying
Do not target, demean, or pile on to another person. Disagreement is fine. Cruelty and intimidation are not.
Hate speech
No attacks on people because of their religion, ethnicity, caste, national origin, gender, sexuality, disability, or age.
Sexual content
Keep MyVillage safe for a mixed, all-ages community. No pornography or sexually explicit material.
Impersonation
Be yourself. Do not pretend to be another person, business, or organization, and do not run fake accounts.
Violence and threats
No threats of harm, incitement to violence, or content that celebrates or plans harm to people.
Self-harm and suicide
We remove content that encourages self-harm. If you are struggling, please see our safety resources. Help is available. See safety resources.
Child sexual abuse
We have zero tolerance for any sexual content involving minors. It is removed, preserved as required by law, and reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
How we enforce
When something breaks the rules, we respond in proportion to what happened and whether it keeps happening. Severe violations can skip straight to the strongest step.
- 1
Warning
A first or minor violation usually gets a warning so you know what crossed the line.
- 2
Content removed
The specific post, comment, review, or listing that broke a rule is taken down.
- 3
Temporary suspension
Repeated or serious violations pause your ability to post, comment, and interact for a set time. You can still read MyVillage.
- 4
Permanent ban
The gravest or most persistent violations end in a permanent ban from posting and interacting.
How to report content
Every post, comment, review, and listing has a small flag button. Tap it, choose a reason, and add a note if it helps. Your report goes only to our moderators. Your name is never shown to the person you reported. We review each one and take action or dismiss it.
Tools you control
You do not have to wait for a moderator to shape your own experience.
- Block
- Blocking is mutual and complete. You and a blocked person cannot see each other's posts, comments, or profiles, and neither can follow the other.
- Mute
- Muting is one way and silent. It hides someone's posts from your feed. They are not told, and nothing else about their account changes.
- Comment controls
- On your own posts you can decide who is allowed to reply, so you stay in charge of the conversation you started.
If you or someone else is in crisis
Some moments need more than a moderator. If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available right now.
